Working Group - Horticulture

Targets: This working group’s objective is to leverage growing demand for world production of tropical fruit to benefit smallholder farmers in Indonesia, creating jobs, increasing income, providing nutrition and reducing overall poverty levels

 

Activities:

Gunung Sewu Group Initiative:

  • Optimizing farmers’ production techniques
  • Focusing on providing high quality seeds, supervising cultivation
  • Giving off-take guarantees

Syngenta Indonesia Initiative:

  • Facilitating the availability of early flowering technology which helps provide mango farmers with longer harvest, higher fruit quality, and better prices in off-season

 

Results:

Papaya:

  • Farmers engaged: 198
  • Land: 190 ha

Mango:

  • Farmers engaged: 4,710
