Working Group - Farmer Institutions & Extension Services

Context:

According to Indonesian statistics, livelihood in agricultural sector in Indonesia covers 30% of Indonesian labor force and predominantly (88%) informal. Both government and private sector deliver their program, supports and extension services for smallholders through farmer groups, associations and cooperatives, and mostly delivered by thousands of field trainers. Strengthening both field trainers and farmers organizational skills are keys to achieve targets in agriculture sector, as well as improving smallholders’ welfare.

Activities:

Training of Trainers (ToT) for field workers covering technical agricultural related skills, as well as soft teaching skills such as delivering material and practices. Farmers’ capacity building, which cover not only agricultural techniques to increase productivity, but also their institutional capacity, which provide the potential to access market and develop agricultural business.
